About Vickie

Vickie Adamson is a native of North Carolina, grew up in rural Iredell County, and has lived in Raleigh since 1983.  She attends Highland United Methodist Church and has one son who graduated from Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School and the University of Alabama at Huntsville.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University in Accounting, Adamson worked for several large corporations as a business analyst, helping companies develop and maintain strong business practices.  Adamson is in her third term on the Wake County Board of Commissioners, first elected in 2018.  She currently serves as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Affordable Housing Committee and a member of the Health and Human Services Committee.  Adamson also sits on the boards of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, InterAct of Wake County, Wake County United Arts Council, and the Wake County Library Commission.  In 2023, Adamson received the M.H. “Jack” Brock Outstanding County Commissioner Award from the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners for her exemplary service for the citizens of Wake County. She also received a Certificate of Recognition of her work with foster children in Wake County. Adamson has served on the board of Passage Home, a non-profit organization working to break the cycle of poverty in Wake County by helping youth, individuals and families, and Veterans achieve multigenerational self-sufficiency.

Adamson summarized her focus: “North Carolina has been my home all my life. As Wake County Commissioner, I will continue to put our citizens first with sound policies and solutions for the entire community.”
